- What is a home inspection?
- A home inspection is a non-invasive look into your home. A home inspector will look at more than the cosmetics of a home. A home inspector has special equipment and training to inspect homes and various properties. The home inspector prepares a report that is given to the client. The roof, structure, plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems are some of the things that are checked in an inspection. There are possible defects, maintenance issues, and safety requirements that have to be examined to detect any potential problems.
- Do I really need a home inspection?
Whether you are buying, selling or have concerns, a home inspection is always a good idea. When you read your report after the inspection, you will know how to plan for repairs, replacements, and/or upgrades for your home.
- What should I expect?
You should expect quality and respect you deserve. You should expect that your questions are answered in a timely fashion. You should expect that your home will be inspected as if though it were the home of the inspector and that all information is comprehensive and thorough.
- How long does an inspection take?
A home inspection takes a minimum of 2 hours. The actual length of time depends on the size, age, and amenities of the home.
- Do I have to be present during the inspection?
It is up to you on whether or not you are present. If you are present during the inspection, the home inspector is able to show you different aspects of your home that you may not catch when you are reading your report. It benefits you to be there, but it is not necessary.
- How much does a home inspection cost?
A home inspection varies in cost. The cost is determined by the scope of the inspection, in addition to the age and size of the home.
